Why Do Some People Expect Transformational Work… for Transactional Prices? 🤔
Recently, I showed someone how her 3 days of monthly manual reporting could be transformed into a nearly one-click system.
She was excited - tearful relief excited.
The time savings and stress reduction were obvious.
To her.
But sadly not to her boss…
When she asked her boss to approve the automation work, I gave a fair, value-aligned quote based on the impact and expertise involved.
The response?
He came back with a counter-offer that slashed the value in half, expecting a major transformation to be delivered for the price of basic support.
I couldn’t accept that.
So I stepped away from the project - but it wasn’t easy.
Not after showing someone what was possible and seeing them feel the difference it could make.
It was heart-breaking. 😔
I pointed her to my Masterclass.
That’s all I could do.
It won’t solve everything but it will give her the power to start making small changes that will compound over time.
Now, I’m reflecting on the bigger picture.
I’m not bitter.
But I am curious.
Why is this level of automation still seen as “just Excel help”?
Why do real time-saving, stress-reducing, efficiency-boosting systems get bargained down to minimum rates when they deliver long-term gains far beyond the initial cost?
We can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped…
But what if the person who needs the help isn’t the one making the decision?
